The Senior Structural Engineer is a critical position within Lemartec’s Building Systems Division. Lemartec was founded as a company that had expertise in structural design with an emphasis in steel structures and elements.  At Lemartec, SSE’s are responsible for designing steel structures and standalone elements like composite mezzanines, crane systems, bulk head doors, etc.  They are also responsible for evaluating or producing bid specifications and drawings to ensure we know everything required to successfully design a project. They must be familiar with the industry’s leading design software platforms.  SSE’s must engineer projects while aggressively following-up with a Client, design professionals and subcontractors to ensure that timely construction is completed within budget. SSE’s also work with the estimating teams to follow-up on estimates and budgets until a project is closed.

Engineering Knowledge
  • Ability to read structural and architectural design documents
  • Steel Design Emphasis

  • Airplane Hangars
  • Bulk Storage (grain, sugar, potatoes, etc.)

  • Experience in analyzing steel connections.
  • Foundation design for steel structures and variations for different building types and soil conditions.
  • Experience in foundation design both deep and shallow foundations.
  • Analyze and design structural elements and systems for steel, concrete, timber/wood and masonry in accordance with  building codes and design standards.
  • Knowledge of codes or standards such as IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, NDS, AWS, etc.
  • Understand trends and best practices in the structural discipline.
  • Perform complex analytical procedures on steel structures. 
  • Experience in writing and editing technical specifications.
  • Experience in review of shop drawings and writing/responding to RFI’s.
  • Experience in writing technical proposals and managing budgets.
  • Review contract requirements thoroughly and asks follow-up question on every project
  • Creates bid lists that fit scope of job, ensuring that we have the right subs for the project
  • Minimize disruptions by “doing our homework”

Minimum Requirements 
·         BS or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
·         Professional Engineer Registration in FL as a PE or SE (registration in other states/countries is a plus)
·         Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Civil Engineering
·         Fundamentals and Structural Design.
·         Project and staff management experience.
·         Familiarity with local specifications and supplements to each and with reading blue prints and plans.
·         Excellent organizational, presentation and interpersonal skills.
·         High degree of professionalism and strong work ethic.
·         Must also have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
·         Willing to learn VP Command.
·         Ability to obtain OHSA 30 standard.
·         Experience in working with Contractors, Engineers and Architects
·         Experience with Design Build projects
·         Understanding of sustainable design methods in buildings. 
·         Ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively and manage deadlines
·         Exceptional organization skills required for our rapidly changing environment.
·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based office
Project Administration
·         Study bids, specifications, drawings and the contract to proactively solve potential issues.
·         Develop and monitor schedules to ensure a timely completion of the project.
·         Communicate internally on the financial flow of the project.
·         Ensures that invoices are submitted timely to clients (If not part of an Operations Project).
·         Identify and negotiate time extensions as needed with the client.
·         Conduct/attend project meetings/huddles as needed to communicate project requirements
·         Participate in all safety plans throughout all the projects.
·         Has a thorough understanding of the scope and schedule for the project
Follow up & closing
·         Consistently follows up on submitted bids and budgets with Architect and/or Construction Manager to close business.
·         Knows architects, construction managers, property managers, brokers and discuss business
·         Track and procure new work through the community.
·         Build Long Term Relationships
·         Develop personal / social relationships with Each Client…over communicate
·         Handle all interactions in a manner designed to build a long term relationship.
·         Develop personal / social relationships with select client.
·         Develops RFI's and clarifications and ensure timely responses
Operate as One Team
·         Build strong win-win relationships with other departments within Lemartec, including project management, marketing,                         business development, accounting, and superintendents.
·         Act as a conduit for Lemartec office/field communication on issues as needed
·         Mentor other Engineers or Designers to deliver exceptional results.
·         Delegate responsibility to team members for development as needed
·         Properly turns over close out documents and project information to Client in a timely manner.
·         Review drawings with Project Management team and highlight areas of concern
·         Review job cost with Project Management team
